The French Society of Dentofacial Orthopedics (SFODF) is a scientific society with 1986 French and International members drawn from orthodontists, stomatologists, dental surgeons, and specializing students. Today, SFODF members represent two-thirds of French orthodontic practitioners.
Since its creation in 1921, the SFODF has aimed to promote orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in France and worldwide in every branch of the healthcare profession.
It contributes to advances in oral and dental health by training practitioners and by promoting the development of orthodontic research programs.
In addition to the annual Continuing Education program, the SFODF publishes a quarterly internationally-renowned scientific journal entitled “Orthodontie Française” as well as a quarterly news-and-liaison letter “SFODF INFOS”.
In 2005, the dynamism of the Society and the many different measures designed for and by its members and aimed at a French and International audience earned the SFODF recognition from the French state as an « Association Recognized to be in the public interest”.
Since its inception, the SFODF has welcomed every school of thought. True to its missions and its historic values, it has always been open to the world, sharing knowledge and know-how and promoting international exchanges. Its many cooperative undertakings and diverse projects have enabled the Society to position itself at the heart of the orthodontic challenges of the XXIst century.
